NO MORE WEAPONS
Looking inward for peace and harmony,
for ourselves and others.
Emmanuel Jal is a South Sudanese musician and was a child soldier in the
Second Sudanese Civil War. After years of fighting, he ran away with other
children, was smuggled into Kenya then started singing and working for his
community. Despite his accomplishments in music, Jal's biggest passion is for
Gua Africa, a charity that he founded. Besides building schools, the nonprofit
provides scholarships for Sudanese war survivors in refugee camps, and
sponsors education for children in the most deprived slum areas in Nairobi.

"Without inner peace, how can we make real peace?"
- His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Nobel Peace Prize Winner
What actually becomes a tool for harming others?
Is it a rock? Is it a stick?
Do we pick them up and use them out of anger or hatred?
This idea of hurting others even with deadly weapons destroys us.
Instead, we can look inward to become peaceful and calm,
not reacting with violence and anger.
